UFC Fighter gained a whopping 25.5 pounds before stepping into cage
The California State Athletic Commission revealed significant weight fluctuations among fighters at UFC Sacramento, with several athletes gaining substantial mass between the official weigh-ins and fight night—a legal practice that reflects post-weigh-in rehydration.
Featherweight Marcio Barbosa posted the most dramatic gain, climbing from 145.5 pounds at weigh-in to 171 pounds on fight night, a 25.5-pound jump. Despite the sizeable rehydration, Barbosa made quick work of Ryan Kuse, earning a first-round knockout. Kuse gained only 8.7 pounds, stepping into the cage at 153.2 pounds.
At heavyweight, Shamil Gaziev weighed 267.4 pounds after gaining 6.4 pounds from his 261-pound weigh-in, and knocked out Kennedy Nzechukwu in the first round. Nzechukwu actually lost weight, dropping 2.4 pounds to 241.6 pounds.
