PFL sets final event before MVP rebrand with bantamweight title fight
The Professional Fighters League has announced its final event under the PFL banner before rebranding to Most Valuable Promotions on January 1, 2027—a bantamweight title fight featuring Taylor Lapilus and undefeated Mitchell McKee at PFL Lyon on December 12 at LDLC Arena in France. Lapilus (25-4), a former UFC athlete, will pursue his first world title at home, having compiled a perfect 4-0 record since joining the PFL. The opportunity represents the culmination of his career arc, as he told reporters: "My whole career has led to this moment. I'm here to become champion, leave my mark on this sport and cement my legacy." McKee (11-0) made his promotional debut earlier this year at PFL Chicago, where he defeated Sergio Pettis. The unbeaten bantamweight is confident heading into the title bout. "Fighting for a PFL world title is exactly why I came here," McKee said. "I've believed from day one that I'm the best bantamweight in the PFL and in December I get the opportunity to prove it." The Lyon card will serve as a symbolic final show before the PFL merger integrates the promotion into the MVP ecosystem, marking a historic transition for the organization.
