Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Song Yadong headlines UFC Shanghai

Bantamweights Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong will headline UFC Shanghai on August 29 in China, marking the second consecutive year the promotion returns to the city.
Nurmagomedov was originally scheduled to compete at UFC Abu Dhabi in July, but his opponent David Martinez withdrew due to injury. Rather than find a replacement, the UFC opted to reschedule Nurmagomedov for Shanghai and pair him with Song in the main event.
Nurmagomedov arrives with an impressive 20-1 record, his sole loss coming via decision to former bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. Song represents a significant step up in competition after recently submitting former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC Macau in May. Song's recent record stands at 2-2 over his last four fights, with victories over Figueiredo and Henry Cejudo balanced against losses to Sean O'Malley and Petr Yan.
The winner of this matchup will position themselves as a legitimate title contender in the bantamweight division. The UFC plans to announce additional fights for the Shanghai card in the coming weeks.
