Dana White denounces Josh Hokit’s derogatory remarks toward Michelle Obama

Josh Hokit improved to 4-0 in the UFC with a second-round stoppage of Derrick Lewis at UFC White House on Sunday, but his post-fight comments drew swift criticism from promotion leadership. Following his victory, Hokit made derogatory remarks about former First Lady Michelle Obama during his interview with commentator Joe Rogan.

The heavyweight, known for his theatrical wrestling-inspired persona, had used the post-fight platform to praise President Donald Trump and take shots at former middleweight champion Alex Pereira before pivoting to target Obama. His remarks were widely condemned on social media and caught the attention of UFC CEO Dana White.

White responded firmly to the incident, telling Time magazine that he opposes making "nasty and false things" about public figures' families, even when those figures are well-known. "Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense," White stated, drawing a line between Hokit's legal right to speak and the promotion's values.

Despite the controversy, Hokit has emerged as a legitimate heavyweight contender with back-to-back wins over notable names Curtis Blaydes and Lewis. The ex-NFL prospect earned his UFC contract on Dana White's Contender Series in August and has accumulated four victories in less than a year, positioning himself for a high-profile next matchup. It remains unclear whether the UFC will pursue disciplinary action for his remarks.
