Kevin Holland denies being Contender Series fighter Dana White claims has made over $11M in UFC career

Dana White stirred speculation this week when he revealed during a post-show interview following Tuesday's Contender Series event that one fighter who graduated from the developmental program had earned over $11 million despite never competing in a UFC title fight. White did not name the fighter, but the MMA community quickly zeroed in on welterweight Kevin Holland as the likely candidate—until Holland himself pushed back on social media.

Holland's career trajectory and earnings timeline seemed to fit White's description. The 29-fight UFC veteran joined the promotion in 2018 after appearing on Contender Series, though he did not initially secure a contract from the show. Since then, he has become a fixture on fight cards, racking up 10 Fight Night bonuses worth $50,000 each—one Fight of the Night and nine Performance of the Night awards. His willingness to step in on short notice has also boosted his paychecks; he earned $250,000 to show at UFC 311 in January 2025, when he lost to Reiner de Ridder. Combined with sponsorship opportunities available to UFC-roster fighters, Holland appeared to be the only realistic candidate.

When asked about the claim, Holland denied being the fighter in question. "That fighter's not me," he wrote on social media, adding in another post, "Boss talking about someone else wish it was me." His response left room for interpretation: Holland may be uncomfortable with his finances being made public, or White may have misremembered details about the fighter he was referencing. Other Contender Series graduates like Sean O'Malley, Jamahal Hill, Jack Della Maddalena, and Carlos Ulberg have all gone on to win UFC titles—contradicting White's claim that the $11 million earner never fought for a championship. The identity of White's mystery fighter remains unresolved.
