Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry came face-to-face for the first time Tuesday in Philadelphia ahead of their welterweight title clash at UFC 330 on August 15. The faceoff, held at the iconic Rocky statue, gave fans a visual sense of the physical matchup to come: according to official measurements, Garry enjoys a 5-inch height advantage over the reigning 170-pound champion.

Makhachev defends his title for the first time at welterweight after claiming the belt with a win over Jack Della Maddalena, capping an exceptionally successful and dominant run at lightweight. Garry, meanwhile, has won consecutive bouts over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad to earn this championship opportunity.

The UFC 330 card at Philadelphia's Xfinity Mobile Arena features a second title bout in the co-main event: strawweight champion Mackenzie Dern will make her first title defense against submission specialist Gillian Robertson. Dern captured the vacant strap with a decision victory over Virna Jandiroba in October, while former champion Zhang Weili moved up to flyweight in pursuit of double gold. Robertson earned her shot after a five-fight winning streak since 2024, four of those victories coming against Brazilian strawweight competition.
