Sean O’Malley says he ‘smoked’ heckling UFC fan in face with his cap

Sean O'Malley experienced an unexpected confrontation with a heckling fan while cornering teammate Tommy McMillen at Noche UFC 4, marking the former bantamweight champion's first time working in a fighter's corner inside an arena. During McMillen's walkout for his featherweight matchup against Marwan Rahiki, an intoxicated heckler directed sustained verbal abuse at the fighter, prompting O'Malley to take matters into his own hands.

O'Malley detailed the incident on his YouTube channel, explaining that after rolling his cap into a tight ball, he threw it directly at the heckler's face as McMillen made his entrance. "This one f*cking drunk cowboy guy was shouting, 'F*ck you Tommy, you f*cking p*ssy,' for like two minutes," O'Malley recounted. "I grabbed my hat and rolled it into a ball and I got it into a nice ball and right when we walked out, I smoked that mother*cker right in the face with it."

O'Malley admitted he felt some regret about the throw, particularly after the fan briefly complimented him. The incident compounded existing tension from McMillen's pre-fight antics—the fighter had thrown a Twinkie at Rahiki during the ceremonial weigh-ins, leading to additional security measures before the fighters' walkouts. McMillen ultimately earned a unanimous decision victory over Rahiki, with their competitive bout recognized as Fight of the Night.
