UFC Shanghai weigh-in results: Both fighters miss weight for matchup in rare mishap

Three fighters missed weight at the UFC Shanghai weigh-ins on Friday, though the event proceeded with its full 26-fighter lineup and the main event remained intact. Strawweights Xiong Jingnan and Julia Polastri both came in over the limit for their preliminary bout—Xiong at 117 pounds (1 pound over) and Polastri at 118.5 pounds (2.5 over)—but neither was penalized and their fight will proceed as a catchweight. Flyweight Andre Lima also missed the cut, weighing in at 127 pounds, one pound above the non-title limit. Lima was fined 20 percent of his purse and his bout against Namsrai Batbayar will also take place at catchweight. This marks the second UFC weight-miss for Lima; he previously came in four pounds heavy for a flyweight fight against Mitch Raposo at UFC 302 in May 2024, a bout he went on to win. Lima enters Saturday coming off his first professional loss to Kevin Borjas in June. The card's main event between bantamweights Umar Nurmagomedov and Song Yadong encountered no such issues, with Nurmagomedov weighing 135.5 pounds and Song at 136 pounds. UFC Shanghai takes place Saturday, August 29, streaming on Paramount+, with prelims at 3 a.m. ET and the main card at 6 a.m. ET.
