Gerald Meerschaert moves to 205, faces Julius Walker at Oct. 10 UFC event

Gerald Meerschaert is making a move up in weight class. The 38-year-old veteran will compete at light heavyweight for the first time, facing Julius Walker at a UFC Fight Night event scheduled for October 10 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Meerschaert enters the bout in search of his first victory in nearly two years. The experienced fighter has dropped five consecutive fights, most recently losing a unanimous decision to Jacob Malkoun at UFC Perth in May—a contest in which he also missed weight by four pounds. His last win came when he submitted Edmen Shahbazyan in the second round almost two years prior.
Walker, who will be making his fifth UFC appearance, arrives on a two-fight losing streak. The fighter was stopped in both of his 2026 outings, including a devastating eight-second knockout loss to Abdul Rakhman Yakhyaev at UFC Baku in June. The quick defeats underscore his recent struggles inside the octagon.
Both fighters will be looking to arrest their losing streaks in what shapes up as a pivotal bout for their respective careers. For Meerschaert, the weight-class change represents a fresh start after his recent struggles at middleweight and welterweight.
