Yadong Song taps out Deiveson Figueriedo with second-round guillotine at UFC Macau
Song Yadong delivered a main-event submission victory at UFC Macau, tapping out former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo with a second-round guillotine choke in their bantamweight headliner. The finish came late in Round 2 and sent the home crowd into celebration after several of Song's Chinese compatriots fell short on the card.
Both men started cautiously. Song landed two leg kicks and a right hand early, while Figueiredo countered with a hard right hook that proved to be his most effective strike of the opening frame. Song threw a head kick, fell, and Figueiredo spent the remainder of Round 1 on top in his guard. The second round saw Song begin to apply more pressure. When Figueiredo attempted another takedown in response to Song's leg kicks, Song locked in the guillotine and forced the immediate tapout.
Song, now 23–9–1 with 1 NC (12–4–1 in the UFC), secured his second straight victory over a top-ranked opponent and proved his credentials in the competitive bantamweight division. Figueiredo, the former two-division champion, drops to 25–7–1 (14–7–1 UFC) and faces an uncertain path forward at 38 years old.
