UFC contender Brendan Allen taps fellow middleweight with slick heel hook
Brendan Allen, a top middleweight contender in the UFC, showcased his elite grappling credentials at ACBJJ 22 in Istanbul, Turkey, submitting fellow middleweight Magomedrasul Gasanov with a slick heel hook just before the five-minute mark in a grappling match. Allen (27–7) was defending his ACBJJ All-Stars title, which he won in July with a first-round submission of Ramazan Kuramagomedov. The UFC middleweight is riding a three-fight winning streak in the octagon with recent victories over Marvin Vettori, Reinier de Ridder, and Edmen Shahbazyan—two of which earned fight bonuses. Gasanov (23–2), a middleweight prospect who signed with the UFC earlier this year, was scheduled to make his promotional debut in Abu Dhabi last month but withdrew due to undisclosed reasons. Allen's submission prowess continues to establish him as one of MMA's most dangerous grapplers and a threat to any opponent who steps into the cage with him.
