Bryce Mitchell makes history with UFC BJJ clash against Mikey Musumeci

Bryce Mitchell will make history as the first active UFC fighter to compete against a UFC BJJ champion when he faces Mikey Musumeci in a non-title featherweight grappling match at UFC BJJ 11 on September 24, 2026. The bout will headline the event on YouTube.

Musumeci, an undefeated UFC BJJ fighter, is a five-time IBJJF black belt world champion (four times in Gi, once in No-Gi) who captured the UFC BJJ bantamweight title and successfully defended it three times. In his four UFC BJJ appearances since the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9, he has finished all opponents via submission, recording three heel hooks and one foot lock. He will move up a weight class for the Mitchell matchup.

Mitchell, known as "Thug Nasty," has competed in three grappling matches over the past nine months, securing a draw against UFC fighter Jean Silva in March and a victory over J.J. Bowers, though he fell to Landon Elmore via heel hook. The featherweight has built his MMA record on submission prowess, accounting for 10 of his 19 wins by tapout. His most recent MMA victory came in June against Santiago Luna by arm triangle choke.

The co-main event will feature a UFC BJJ light heavyweight title defense, with champion Mason Fowler facing Nicky Rod.
