Brendan Schaub launched a scathing critique of UFC 332's headliner, calling it the worst main event in mixed martial arts history. The October 3 event in Salt Lake City will see Natalia Silva face Wang Cong for the vacant women's flyweight title, left open after Valentina Shevchenko's injury-related retirement.

Schaub questioned the logic behind elevating Wang, a 34-year-old veteran with limited MMA notoriety, to a championship bout. While Silva boasts an undefeated 8-0 UFC record and a 14-fight winning streak, Wang has just one ranked victory—a July decision over Tracy Cortez on early prelims at UFC 329—and is riding a four-fight winning streak following her first MMA loss. Wang does hold a notable 2015 kickboxing victory over Shevchenko, but Schaub argued this hardly justifies a title shot.

On his YouTube channel, Schaub suggested the UFC had grown complacent under its new broadcasting deal with Paramount Skydance, which began in 2026 and makes all events available via Paramount+ subscription rather than pay-per-view. "They know they have your money," Schaub said, arguing the guarantee of subscriber revenue had removed pressure to sell compelling matchups. He claimed Dana White couldn't name three of Wang's opponents or explain how she won her last bouts.

Schaub acknowledged the rest of the UFC 332 card is strong but urged Salt Lake City fans to boycott the event to send a message. He stopped short of wishing financial ruin on the promotion but hoped ticket sales would tank, forcing the UFC to reconsider its matchmaking. "All they had to do was give us a suitable main event," Schaub concluded, "and this card's cooking."

Wang's elevation remains controversial among observers, though her combat sports résumé and prior dominance of Shevchenko in a different sport suggest the promotion sees potential upside to the pairing.
