Elves Brener has ‘touch of death,’ predicts violent knockout at UFC Vegas 121

Elves Brener returns to the octagon after a 13-month layoff to face Josiah Harrell at UFC Vegas 121 on Saturday, intent on a knockout or submission. The Chute Boxe striker said he has "the touch of death" and will aim to halt Harrell—whose only professional loss came via first-round knockout from Jacobe Smith in February—early and decisively.
Brener endured a brutal run prior to his layoff, dropping three consecutive fights to Myktybek Orolbai, Joel Alvarez, and Esteban Ribovics in just over a year. He stepped away to rest physically and mentally, and said he has "evolved my game a lot" and become "much more complete" during the rest period. He plans to let his hands go freely against Harrell, whether through exchanges or submissions.
Harrell marks his return to lightweight after nearly four years at welterweight, where he compiled a 5–1 regional record and UFC debut. Brener believes the weight cut back to 155 pounds will take a toll on his opponent, particularly one transitioning from 170. Brener acknowledged his own past struggles with weight cuts, most notably against Orolbai, but said he has corrected course by walking around at 178 pounds five weeks out—down from a previous high of 205 pounds between UFC bouts. "The suffering he's going to go through to make 155, I'm sure it's going to be a lot," Brener said of Harrell, predicting the lightweight division will pose a different challenge than welterweight.
