Round 1: Du Plessis immediately took center and landed kicks and counter strikes. Usman feinted a takedown but du Plessis did not bite. Round 5: Both men touched gloves for the final round. Du Plessis missed a flying knee and Usman countered with a combination and level change. Du Plessis accidentally kicked Usman low, forcing a brief pause. Upon restart, Usman immediately ate a barrage of right head kicks as du Plessis swarmed for the finish. Usman survived and marched du Plessis back, landing a swarm of punches before du Plessis backed to the fence and covered up as time expired.
