Thad Jean predicts Shamil Musaev will get ‘greedy’ before PFL title fight
Thad Jean is confident he will exploit Shamil Musaev's tendencies when the two face off for the PFL welterweight championship at PFL Washington D.C. on Saturday, July 25, at CareFirst Arena. Jean, an undefeated 11-0 prospect who won the 2025 PFL welterweight tournament, will challenge Musaev, a former tournament winner with an 18-1-1 record who fell short in his bid for the inaugural divisional title earlier this year.
Ahead of the main event bout, Jean outlined his game plan against Musaev, predicting the former champion will become desperate following his recent loss. "I think after his last loss, he will get greedy and I will catch him," Jean said. "He is gonna get greedy, and I am going to catch him, or he's gonna get frustrated, and I am going to catch him. If you watch him back, you'll see what he does before he starts. He gets frustrated, then he goes." Jean believes that understanding Musaev's emotional patterns will allow him to capitalize on openings created by frustration or overconfidence.
The championship bout will headline the PFL's Washington D.C. event, with prelims beginning at 4 p.m. ET on the ESPN app and the main card starting at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN.
