Tony Ferguson to face replacement opponent 4 days out from Misfits Boxing title fight

Tony Ferguson will defend his Misfits Boxing middleweight title against a replacement opponent this Saturday after his original challenger withdrew just four days before the fight. Misfits Boxing announced Tuesday that Ferguson's scheduled bout with Kenzo Biyong is off due to Biyong's travel complications. In Biyong's place steps Mahmoud Sebie, a former Greco-Roman wrestler who represented Egypt at the 2016 Olympic Games. Ferguson, a longtime UFC lightweight contender turned boxer, won the Misfits middleweight title following an interim championship victory over Salt Papi and a subsequent successful title defense against Warren Spencer. His most recent combat sports outing resulted in a loss via tech fall to Arman Tsarukyan at RAF 10 in June, but he now returns to the boxing ring seeking to reclaim momentum. Sebie attempted to join Team USA's Olympic team after his Egyptian boxing career began but was unable to compete at the 2020 games when they were postponed due to COVID-19, leading him to retire from wrestling. He has competed in combat sports under the Rage in the Cage (RAF) banner, where he suffered a tech fall loss to Zahid Valencia at RAF 6. The Misfits Boxing card takes place Saturday at James L. Knight Center in Miami and is headlined by former UFC two-division champion Henry Cejudo making his professional boxing debut against Most Valuable Promotions prospect and actor Wanna Walton.
