Natalia Silva wins UFC flyweight title, Payton Talbott crushes Deiveson Figueiredo
Natalia Silva claimed the UFC women's flyweight championship at UFC 332, prevailing in a dominant five-round performance against Cong Wang. The title bout became vacant when reigning champion Valentina Shevchenko had to step aside due to injury.
Silva (21-5-1) outclassed Wang throughout their main event clash at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, using exceptional speed and unpredictable movement to frustrate her opponent's striking. Despite Wang (10-2) turning up the pressure late in the contest, Silva weathered the offensive and secured a lopsided unanimous decision with cageside judges scoring the bout 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46.
In the co-main event, Payton Talbott announced his readiness for elite bantamweight competition by demolishing former two-time flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo. Talbott (12-1) sent Figueiredo to the canvas with a perfect straight right and unleashed relentless ground-and-pound until referee Jason Herzog stopped the carnage at 2:09 of the first round. Coming off a victory over Henry Cejudo, Talbott called out Sean O'Malley in the aftermath.
Esteban Ribovics (17-3) dismissed King Green's trash talk and showboating by dropping the veteran lightweight repeatedly with looping left hooks to the jaw. Herb Dean halted the bout at 4:08 of round one. Ribovics was ineligible for post-fight bonuses after missing weight.
Welterweight Roberto Soldic rebounded from a difficult opening frame to dominate Kalinn Williams over the final two rounds, earning a unanimous decision with scores of 29-27, 29-27, and 29-28. Soldic (22-4, 1 NC) repeatedly hurt Williams with crisp combinations and takedowns but couldn't secure a finish.
Middleweight Roman Kopylov (16-5) derailed Ateba Abega Gautier's rise with a first-round knockout at 3:12, rocking the Cameroonian with a straight left before finishing with hammerfists.
Imanol Rodriguez (8-0) remained undefeated by stopping Alden Coria in the first at 3:11 with a crushing front kick to the body that prompted referee stoppage.
Rising middleweight Damian Pinas (11-1) showcased his knockout power by finishing Andrey Pulyaev with a single right uppercut at 75 seconds, then called for top-10 competition.
Featherweight Marcus McGhee (12-2) finished Anthony Romero with just two seconds remaining in round one, dropping him with a jab before hammering him against the cage.
Heavyweight Anthony Wint improved to 9-0 by dismantling Lucas Armand in 23 seconds with a barrage of punches after forcing him into the cage.
Johnny Walker (23-10, 1 NC) marked his heavyweight debut impressively, detonating a perfectly-placed left knee from Thai plum on Mick Parkin's jaw at 3:35 of the first round.
Welterweight Jacobe Smith (13-0) obliterated Bruce Whitehead in 92 seconds, following a powerful slam with head shots for a knockout finish.
Alexander Hernandez scored the biggest win of his career, stopping former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos in the second round.
