Mauricio Ruffy proposes to girlfriend after spectacular win at UFC White House
Mauricio Ruffy capped an unforgettable night at UFC Freedom 250 with both a spectacular knockout victory and a marriage proposal to his girlfriend, Nadine.
Ruffy (14-2) faced Michael Chandler (23-11) in a lightweight bout and overwhelmed him early, dropping the former title challenger with a devastating spinning wheel kick late in the first round. After a flurry of follow-up strikes, the referee stepped in to stop the fight, giving Ruffy yet another finish—his fourth in five UFC victories.
With the crowd still roaring, Ruffy seized the moment to propose to Nadine at the White House. "A while ago, when I met my wife Nadine, I really wanted to ask her to marry me, but we didn't have the money, we didn't have the condition," he said in his post-fight interview. "And now, what better place to ask my wife to get married. Nadine, I love you, would you marry me?"
While the camera did not capture Nadine's response directly, UFC commentator Joe Rogan confirmed she gave the proposal a thumbs-up from ringside. The moment underscored Ruffy's breakthrough at elite level—he has now established himself as a dangerous finisher at 155 pounds. Chandler, meanwhile, continues to struggle since his 2021 UFC debut, now 2-6 in the promotion and on a four-fight losing skid dating to 2022.
